Almost all of us suffer from yeast infections once or more in our lives. It is not a fatal disease and moreover the disease is self-containing if proper home remedies and a good Candida diet is followed. But in some cases due to negligence in the beginning, this fungus can start proliferating at a faster rate, and give rise to unpleasant symptoms like: cravings, bloating, fatigue, weight loss or gain, pain in the joint, depression, increase in acne, itchiness, mood swings etc., and at advanced stages these symptoms become more difficult to treat. So it is very important to take care of this easily-containing disease from the very beginning by some simple steps which we can easily follow in our homes, without any hassle. The coconut oil and Candida treatment is one such remedy which can be very effective if we use the adequate amount of coconut oil that is required to stop Candida growth.
One of the studies done on this very topic of coconut oil and Candida was published in 2015. It was conducted on mice, to find if Candida overgrowth in the GI tract could be controlled with the use of coconut oil. Three different fat based sources were used, one being coconut oil. It was found that coconut oil single-handedly reduced the gut yeast by 90% in comparison to the effects of other two sources.
This study goes to show that coconut oil, which is a good source of fat, can have great effect in reducing Candida overgrowth within the body, and can definitely give you promising results with its natural antifungal properties. Other advantages of Coconut oil are that it can be consumed orally or applied to the skin where needed. So, it can be a highly effective treatment option for Candida infections.
Coconut oil and Candida is a topic well-known to those who suffer from yeast infection. Coconut oil is very easily available in the market and is a brilliant antifungal which is versatile in nature. We can easily add the oil to our diet. Coconut oil for Candida treatment can be easily used instead of normal cooking oil in our daily food. Coconut oil can also be used as supplement if drank. There are 3 different fatty acids namely Lauric acid, Caprylic acid and Capric acid naturally present in coconut oil which have been found to be very effective in treating Candida infections. Among these fatty acids, Caprylic acid is the most popular and efficient antifungal ingredient in coconut oil and Candida yeast cells are killed by it when it interferes with their cell walls. So Candida is likely to diminish over time if we integrate such this useful oil into our daily diet. Capric and Lauric acids also help in building a powerful combination that can have similar effects on restricting Candida. Unlike many other antifungal medicines Candida cannot build up any resistance against coconut oil.
A comparative in vitro study of probiotics, ketoconazole, chlorhexidine and coconut oil and Candida was carried out in children and published in 2016. It looked at the children with early childhood tooth decay, or already existing Candida colonization. After groups of these children underwent treatment with all anti-microbial drugs mentioned above along with coconut oil, it showed that the effect coconut oil, chlorhexidine and ketoconazole had the best inhabitation (fewer amounts) of Candida. (See graph below)
This study clearly indicates that coconut oil had good inhabitation of the Candida fungus of 16.8 mm, and can act as a good natural anti-fungal remedy and prevention beverage for treating Candida. Ketoconazole and Chlorhexidine also showed good inhabitation of the Candida, but they cannot be used long term as a preventative measure, and are only short term drugs. Whereas coconut oil can be consumed every day, all year round in moderation, with very good preventative properties.
